Power Over Parkinson's is a program comprised of three categories to help residents living with Parkinson's Disease:
Power of Action
PWR!Moves and Rock Steady Boxing fitness classes several days each week
Power of Knowledge
Educational information and classes will be offered with information from Parkinson's Foundation's PD Take 3
Power of Support
Support Group Meetings, Care Navigation and a community of support
PWR!Moves are performed with large amplitude, high effort, and attention to action in multiple postures (floor, all 4's, sitting, and standing). They specifically target four skills shown by research to interfere with mobility in people with Parkinson's Disease (antigravity extension, weight shifting, axial mobility, and transitional movements).
Rock Steady Boxing fitness classes gives people with Parkinson's Disease hope by improving their quality of life through a non-contact boxing-based fitness curriculum.
The Parkinson's Support Group is a place to obtain practical information and education on living with Parkinson's Disease. This will be an informal time of sharing and discussing new tips and tools related to Parkinson's Disease. This group is intended for both the individual with Parkinson's Disease and family members/caregivers.
